Huawei: Data security is complex

The storage expert at Huawei Luo Qingchao has spoken about the need for enterprises to move away from the belief that data security is simply about encryption, viruses and hackers.
Writing on Banking Tech, Mr Qingchao says that the security issues surrounding the transmission path data takes has always been recognised, while September 11th 2001 highlighted the importance of data reliability, storage requirement and information security.
Moreover, the arrival of storage area network (SAN) solutions made data security more complex, although SAN enables the avoidance of isolated information domains, bolsters performance and reliability and increases expandability, Mr Qingchao notes on the resource.
He claims that since data requests are transmitted over networks to application programs via network adapters, "potential security and reliability troubles exist in every layer".
"Today, enterprise users do not fully understand the concept of storage, let alone the security and reliability of storage," he concludes.
Huawei previously announced that its Quidway NE80E Core Router and NE40E Universal Switching Router act as driving sources for the internet protocol backbone network.
