Videoconferencing 'is a financial weapon'
13 Nov 2008
Videoconferencing is a "recession-proof" facility that firms may be wise to invest in during the economic downturn, a report has suggested.
LifeSize Communications has been tipped by Channel Insider as a vendor which enterprises may wish to buy such technology from, while the product appears to be coping well through the financial turbulence.
While there are less expensive versions of the technology, such as desktop-enabled video teleconferencing, "high-end video teleconferencing - the high-definition, immersive experience also known as telepresence - makes up an important part of the market", the resource continues.
Furthermore, LifeSize's conference system could mean that 64 less flights are taken as meetings no longer need to be face-to-face, which it could be said will significantly reduce the carbon footprint of a firm which deploys the vendor's technology.
LifeSize previously announced that it had been chosen to connect the Los Angeles Community College District with high-definition video.
