Riverbed 'heightens satellite performance'
13 Nov 2008
Riverbed has been chosen to accelerate military satellite networks to improve the collaboration and mission productivity of government enterprises.
The new virtualised SkipWare software package on the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) enables such organisations to achieve a greater application performance across satellite wide area networks (WAN), as well as delivering space communication protocol standards interoperability.
Commenting on the partnership, William Hartwell, general manager and senior director of Federal Markets Divisions at Riverbed, says: "This mission-critical solution specifically addresses pain points within the federal market as organisations look to comply with industry protocols without hindering mission productivity."
Problems that military satellite communications often come across include a reduction in the bandwidth efficiency, interference and the degradation of high-bandwidth-delay products.
Riverbed experienced a 930 per cent revenue growth between 2005 and 2007, the vendor claims.
