Force10 'enhances research and analysis'
14 Nov 2008
Computing and storage environments are seeing a transition toward ten gigabit Ethernet (GbE) as a solution to high performance, the vendor Force10 Networks has announced.
The technology is both reliable and ubiquitous, claims Debbie Montano, director of research and education alliances at the vendor, adding: "Force10 Networks provides the reliability and scalability needed to optimise supercomputer performance and enhance state-of-the-art research and analysis."
Scientific organisations such as the Los Alamos National Laboratory are dependent on supercomputers and such technology utilises ten GbE networks, she adds.
Force10 Networks is set to demonstrate its leadership in high-performance computers at the Supercomputing Conference, allowing enterprises to see the benefits of such technology and the technical, design and cost benefits deploying it can bring.
The vendor recently announced its traffic management and provisioning technology for a high performance in virtualised environments to aid data centre managers to maximise network performance and minimise infrastructure costs.
