HDS' AMS 'brings green functionalities'
18 Nov 2008
The Hitachi Data Systems' (HDS) new adaptable modular storage (AMS) 2000 family brings green technology and power savings to enterprises which deploy the products, while delivering functionalities to the mid-market, it has been reported.
According to IT Business, the AMS series enables inactive drives to spin down, therefore reducing cooling costs and saving power used, as well as providing extra and more efficient storage.
"For Hitachi it's never been better. But it's around savings, being more efficient and having cheaper storage behind a common management tool," Barry Morrison, regional vice-president and general manager for HDS in Canada, tells the resource.
There are three models in the AMS 2000 family - the 2100, the 2300 and the 2500 - and Le Huan Tran, the channels technical consultant for HDS, adds that a new feature includes dynamic load balancing controllers.
HDS recently reported that Gartner has ranked it in its Leaders Quadrant in the Midrange Enterprise Disk Arrays report.
