QLogic 'builds 40 Gb/s QDR solutions'

18 Nov 2008

High-performance network infrastructure solutions vendor QLogic has announced that it is to build 40 Gb/s quad data rate (QDR) InfiniBand solutions to establish new standards of cluster performance, network utilisation and scalability.

Based on the vendor's TrueScale ASIC platform, high-performance computer (HPC) customers can have the benefit of flexibility when designing next-generation clusters, says Jesse Parker, vice-president and general manager of the QLogic Network Solutions Group.

Furthermore, the ultra-low power usage of the product, combined with "a small footprint and industry-leading QDR performance, QLogic QDR InfiniBand switch technology establishes a new paradigm in the InfiniBand switch market, by enabling faster time-to-solutions for HPC customers running the industry's most demanding cluster applications", he adds.

The vendor recently announced that it had a 61 per cent eight Gb fibre channel market share for the third quarter in 2008.
