Gartner gives HDS midrange approval

19 Nov 2008

Gartner has named Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) as being positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in its Magic Quadrant for Midrange Enterprise Disk Arrays report.

The vendor, which claims to be the only provider of services orientated storage solutions, has been placed in the quadrant usually reserved for those organisations which have the highest scores for their ability to deliver.

Furthermore, HDS was rated for its completeness of vision, market responsiveness and track record, sales and pricing and its overall viability, as well as the products on offer.

According to John Mansfield, senior vice-president of Global Solutions Strategy and Development at HDS, the recognition by Gartner "validates our strategy to deliver on the needs of midrange customers and channel partners, such as ease of management, cost-effectiveness and scalability to improve operational efficiency of their environments".

The vendor recently announced plans to establish Iceland as a data centre capital, powering systems with the country's geothermal energy.
