Spectra Logic 'boosts backup reliability'

19 Nov 2008

Data storage vendor Spectra Logic has announced the upgraded BlueScale 10.5, for backup and archive reliability.

The new product expands the delivery of preventative error identification and open storage, while bolstering the reliability of backup in high-performance computer (HPC) and enterprise environments, Spectra Logic claims.

As well as retaining previous features, such as the EnergyAudit power monitor, encryption with key management, Media Lifecycle Management and AutoSupport, the BlueScale 10.5 includes auto drive cleaning and command line interface.

"Spectra Logic's goal is to identify solutions and to develop features that our customers' environments demand. BlueScale 10.5 was designed with HPC and enterprise customer pain points in mind," says Molly Rector, Spectra Logic's vice-president of product management.

Additionally, the upgrade promotes proactive problem identification, reporting and support through the Hardware Health Monitor and an internal web camera.

The vendor previously announced that its T50e extended enterprise-class features to the small and medium-sized enterprise market.
