Spectra Logic's T series chosen

20 Nov 2008

Data storage vendor Spectra Logic has been chosen by Silicon Graphics as its tape library vendor and will sell its entire T series line for high-performance computing and management of enterprise data sets.

Ranging from the T50e for small and medium-sized businesses to the enterprise T950, the tape libraries all come with the vendor's BlueScale interface which delivers services such as Media Lifecycle Management, real-time power monitoring and AES-256 bit encryption.

Indeed, the partnership will "deliver the manageability for enterprise data sets in a small footprint. Together, we are able to provide high performance data storage with hierarchical storage management capabilities that are unmatched in the industry", claims Nathan Thompson, Spectra Logic's chief executive officer.

Furthermore, the T950 expands to eight frames and can hold more than 16 petabytes of storage archival capacity and over 10,000 slots.

The vendor recently said that it had upgraded the BlueScale 10.5 for backup and archive reliability.
