HDS urges storage optimisation
20 Nov 2008
The lowering and controlling of administrative and management costs related to hardware expenditure will be an opportunity for businesses to optimise their storage, it has been claimed.
According to ZDNet, the economic slowdown is an opportunity for firms to take stock of how they can strategically plan to progress into the markets and Hu Yoshida, Hitachi Data Systems' (HDS) vice-president and chief technology officer, agrees.
"During this time, if you maintain IT budgets, you're going to be out of line with the business," Mr Yoshida says about the modernisation of enterprise technology, adding that operating expenditure will need to be decreased in line with the drop in capital outgoings.
Indeed, HDS can provide the products to enable customers to reduce their operating expenditure, while delivering logical unit members within minutes, the resource reports Mr Yoshida as claiming.
Furthermore, HDS gives firms the ability to copy and move dynamically provisioned pages, rather than the allocated unused section of the volume, the resource cites Mr Yoshida as claiming.
The vendor has stated that its new adaptable modular storage (AMS) 2000 family delivers power savings to enterprises.
