

Eaton joins sustainable alliance

The Alliance for Sustainable Built Environments has a new member in the form of industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation, which has joined the group in a bid to promote energy efficiency, it has been reported.
And by joining the organisation, Eaton Corporation has become the first power management company to do so, according to Data Storage Connection.
Indeed, the vendor - behind Eaton Powerware - says that it is looking forward to sharing best practices with the group and already sees itself as a leader in energy efficiency and sustainability, the resource continues.
Speaking to the IT forum, John White, energy management and environmental solutions manager at Eaton's Electrical Group, says: "Eaton has made a public commitment to reduce its own greenhouse gas emissions by 18 per cent by 2012 and was half-way toward completing its goal in 2007."
Eaton Corporation previously announced that its 9135 uninterruptible power system was designed to meet the demands of mission-critical computer networks.
