RIVERBED Deployment Installation & Configuration Technical Training - Course
Objective
To provide the attendee with sufficient information and skills to enable them to deploy, install and configure a Riverbed WAN optimisation and acceleration solution.
Duration
3 days
Audience
Targeted specifically at individuals involved in the design, deployment, or administration/technical support of Steelhead appliances.
Pre-Requisites
A good understanding and experience of:
- TCP/IP network configuration
- Operating system administration (Windows or Linux)
- The OSI 7 - layer networking model
Course Structure
A three day 'hands on' course designed to equip attendees with the necessary skills to install, configure and deploy the Riverbed Steelheads over Wide Area Networks (WAN) Delegates work in pairs with a PC each, one configured as the data centre and the other as the remote site, connected together across a simulated WAN using a Network Nightmare WAN simulator. The course aims to finish shortly after lunch on the third day although there will be the opportunity for delegates to stay later to use laboratory equipment and ask questions of tutors.. The main topics covered are:
- Understand the basic features and purpose of Steelhead appliances
- Configure the product
- Size the product for a given network
- Navigate the GUI
- Have a basic understanding of the Command Line Interface (CLI)
- Perform basic troubleshooting and identify potential problems encountered deploying the product
- Perform network integration
Content
Overview of the Riverbed Solution
Background, selected customers, Steelhead Appliances, range of applications accelerated, remote office problems, why applications are slower over the WAN, how the technology works (transparent deployment, SDR, solving TCP chattiness, Transaction Prediction, PFS, deployment and Introduction to Mobile Client.
Product Tour
A hands-on overview of the structure of the GUI : menus and options. A demonstration of the CLI interface, basic commands and modes.
